WITH a spring in their step and a leap of faith, a group of circus performers will be throwing caution to the wind
The new artistic, theatrical Melbourne circus show entitled Leap of Faith, directed by former Cirque du Soleil artistic director Matthew Jessner, kicks off tonight and is expected to leave jaws agape.
Hanne Grant is one of 24 students completing their final year at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA) and is hoping to run rings around any future competitors.
The family-friendly 70-minute shows will feature a mind-boggling level of skill from the aerobatic acrobats.
"They are all taking some sort of leap of faith, some sort of step into the unknown.
"When you are performing you never really know what is going to happen -- it's live entertainment," said the show's associate director, Stephen Morgante.
The show runs from April 4-13 at the NICA National Circus Centre in Prahran. Bookings can be made at nica.com.au.
