The preliminaries begin today as contest entries, vendor, exhibit and carnival set up, and judging, are slated through Wednesday, in preparation for the Fair opening to the public Wednesday with Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 6 p.m. and Flag Raising at 7 p.m.
So named for the number 13 in year 2013, a number the Fair Board said can bring good luck as well as bad, the theme of luck threads throughout the Fair’s many events and activities. Pick a lucky charm and see if it brings you luck or not. At the end of the fair, staff will have calculated the charm that brought the most luck to all winners. Whether it be a rabbit’s foot, horseshoe, wishbone, penny, shamrock, star or lucky duck, “Lucky ’13“ is this year’s Fair’s promise to bring fun for all.
