Chasco Fiesta continues with rides, music, dance, food

March 26, 2011 The Chasco Fiesta continues today with carnival rides and will run through April 3 in downtown New Port Richey. Festivities are in Sims Park unless noted. Events include: • Sand Soldiers of America Chasco Fiesta Street Parade was held today on Grand Boulevard at Gulf Drive in New Port Richey. The parade will go around Orange Lake (Circle Boulevard) to Main Street. • A rock 'n' roll concert will be from 1 to 11 p.m. tonight at the Sims Park Ampitheater. Featured performers are Odyssey Road, a Journey tribute band; Circle Sky; Julie Black; Franc Robert and the Boxcar Tourists; and DFA Band. • A Native American Pow Wow & Festival will feature dancers from tribes across the country today through Sunday. Chasco Carnival rides and midway open at 5 p.m. today and will run through April 3. The carnival opens at noon Sunday. Wristband ride discounts cost $15 Monday through Thursday or $20 Friday through Sunday. • West Pasco Sertoma Beef BBQ will serve more than 15,000 pounds of beef to hungry patrons today and Sunday. • Classic rock will be performed from 1 to 9:30 p.m. Sunday with performances by Bobby Friss; Roadhouse Band; Time Bandits; and Bone Yard Dogs. • Bluegrass in the park is the featured concert 6 to 10 p.m. Monday. Performers include Larry Gillis and his Hard Driving Bluegrass Band and Avery County. • Noche Latina is 6 to 10 p.m. Tuesday with performances by Supernatural and Sol Caribe.
