Two Ponies Missing From Circus Olympia
Two performance ponies from Circus Olympia have gone missing in Victoria, Australia. Dusty and Belle were left tied to a fence in Craigieburn at D. S. Aitken Reserve and disappeared just hours after their arrival to the location. The circus staff didn’t notice they were missing until it was too late because they were busy setting up the tents. “We just woke up this morning and noticed they were gone”, said Chavella Ferroni, Circus Olympia’s Office Administrator. “We are not sure if maybe someone went past and to be funny let one of them off and the other one just ran with it or if someone took them. We are not sure yet”.
The ponies are invaluable to the circus and the show will not be the same without them. Belle is a trick pony and does an entire act by herself, and Dusty is a part of a mixed animal act that cannot go on without him. Because the skills they learn aren’t useful outside of the circus, it takes a lot of time and money to train the animals.
Belle is a white and tan-colored female Shetland cross pony, while Dusty is a show-quality male miniature horse. The circus is offering a $500 reward for their safe return.
