Elephants on parade in D.C.
Elephants paraded through the streets of D.C. Tuesday night as the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus arrived in town.

Shortly before 9 p.m., the first of four elephants stepped off the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus train near Garfield Park in Southeast D.C. on Mar. 19, 2013. It was the beginning of the annual Pachyderm Parade through Capitol Hill.

The elephants stopped for a photo opp on 3rd Street in front of the U.S. Capitol Building, where the streets were lined on both sides with spectators.

A member of the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus cast gave an interview outside the Verizon Center. This year's performance features an Asian-themed "Dragons" show.

Circus performers made their way into the Verizon Center after the Pachyderm Parade concluded.
