Fun, enchantment and creativity were everywhere at the Midnight Circus as stilt walkers, hoop dancers and a gypsy band entertained the crowds.
A spectrum of arts came together at Tauranga's Gallery 59 on Friday and Saturday, with the Midnight Circus exhibition opening on Friday night and a raft of children's workshops, performances and circus-themed attractions held on Saturday.
Local artists Lynette Fisher, Skye Carson-Wilson and Simone Anderson exhibited their work in the gallery while a marquee outside hosted stilt walkers, a gypsy jazz band, a spinning wheel of death and a knife thrower, a Punch and Judy-style show and trapeze lessons for children.
Miss Anderson said she and the other exhibitors wanted to make the show interactive to foster a love of the arts.
More workshops will be held in the coming weeks. Performers are invited to visit Gallery 59, put their hat down and earn some money
