BATTLE CREEK,NE — The Battle Creek Lions Club is bringing the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus to town on Saturday, Aug. 3.
There will be performances at 2 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the Battle Creek High School parking lot.
The Culpepper & Merriweather Circus is a one-ring, big top circus that has been featured on several national TV shows along with major newspapers, including The Los Angeles Times and Chicago Tribune.
Area residents are invited to come out Saturday morning to watch as animals are unloaded, the big top is erected, and rigging is prepared for performances later in the day.
The raising of the big top should start between 9:30 and 10 a.m. Afterward at about 1 p.m., there will be free tours for families, schools, and interested community members to meet and learn all about the Culpepper & Merriweather Circus.
The 90-minute shows include an all-star group of performers and entertainers, including Miss Simone and her amazing single trapeze, Miss Paulina's proud prancing ponies, The Arlise Troupe on their wild and crazy unicycles, Natilie's American Eskimo Escapades, The Ayalas with unforgettable foot juggling and the Jungle Cats.
Tickets can be purchased in advance at selected Battle Creek locations. Tickets are higher on the day of the shows.
