This town is a circus. Literally.
The Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey Circus parades through D.C. on Tuesday, March 22 at 2 p.m. to kick off their showing of BARNUM 200SM, a 200-year anniversary show.
The parade route starts from Virginia and New Jersey avenues S.E., and cuts through most of Capitol Hill before ending at the Verizon Center.
The parade will include elephants, clowns, donkeys, horses, motorcycles and even a watusi (we'll give you a second to Wikipedia that).
The spectacle promises to be even bigger than previous years in celebration of their 200 years of circus excitement. The show itself takes place at the Verizon Center, March 24-27. Tickets can be found here.
But for those of us who just want to see elephants romping D.C., here's the parade route:
•Start at intersection of Virginia and New Jersey avenues S.E.•West on Virginia Avenue S.E. to S. Capitol Street S.E.•Right on S. Capitol Street S.E.•Left on Washington Ave. S.W.•Left on Independence Ave. S.W.•Right on 3rd St. S.W./N.W.•Left on G St. N.W.•End at Verizon Center.
