There is a spirit of unfailing unity under the tent at the new Cirque Du Soleil Amaluna show.
No, it’s not the cosmic journey of “rebirth and renewal” the show boasts, or the tranquil cello echoing in the distance. It’s an implicit vow that minutes after its conclusion everyone will (fuelled by guilt) simultaneously begin cutting their carb intake and sign up for spinning, the one that includes a bike and excludes a Lazy Susan.

When it comes to Cirque du Soleil, one man’s cash is a French man named Guy’s treasure.

For around $90 (give or take) you will witness a psychedelic, sensory explosion which could only ever be simulated offsite by dreaming following late-night Chinese food, living through the '70s or licking a psychoactive toad.

Amaluna invites the audience to a mysterious island governed by goddesses and guided by the cycles of the moon, as opposed to parts of Toronto Islands, which is governed by god-like creatures who cycle and moon.
