For 140 years, it has shocked and entertained thousands of audiences. Now “the greatest show on Earth” will be rolling into Augusta for a four-day performance.

The Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey circus, the Fully Charged Gold Edition, will be at the James Brown Arena on Thursday and Friday at 7 p.m., on Saturday at 11 a.m. and 3 and 7 p.m., and Sunday at 1 and 5 p.m. A special school performance will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. Doors will open an hour before show time.
All ticket-holders will be able to meet the entertainers, see the animals and try on costumes at the All Access Pre-Show Party, according to the circus’ website. The party is free and occurs an hour before each show.

On Wednesday, the public will be able to meet one of the circus’ biggest attractions. Elephants will be brought out to the arena plaza to enjoy their Elephant Brunch of fruits, vegetables and bread loaves at 2 p.m.

“The Ringling people will talk about (them as they eat),” said Tyler Wright, Augusta Entertainment Complex marketing manager. “Day cares, schools and anyone within walking distance usually comes out in full force.”

This event is free, as well.

This Fully Charged show promises to provide a “powerful surge of circus entertainment that celebrates performance power and boosts circus-goers’ excitement,” according to a release.

The next time the circus will perform this edition will be on Feb. 14 in Florence, according to its website.
