ROLL up, roll up... The circus is coming to Lancing.
Award-winning acrobats, comical clowns and jaw-dropping jugglers will be among the attractions on show when Billy Smart’s Circus brings its two-hour family show to Beach Green in July.
This year’s show, hosted by Yasmine Smart, grandaughter of the founder, will feature acts from around the world, including Australian trapeze artists the Flying Aces, Russian gymnasts the Assudulin Troupe, and aerial star Alina Eskina, fresh from a three-year stint at a top casino in Indonesia.
The Extreme Brothes, a trio of acrobats from Romania hope to wow the crowds, while Italian clown Jonny Bogino is performing in front of UK audiences for the first time.
Argentinian bolas drumming by Gabriel Carmola and the footjuggling skills of France’s Germaine Delbosq will also be on display, as well as a live band.
Billy Smart founded his circus in 1946 and over the next 25 years it rose to fame, largely through its television appearances.
The first colour programme to be transmitted by the BBC was the Bank Holiday edition of Billy Smart’s Circus.
TV audiences peaked at 21 million, and earned the circus a Silver Camera award.
The show will run for six nights, from July 1 to July 6.
The circus claims to be the largest touring show of its kind in the UK.
More information about the show is available at the circus’ website, www.billy-smarts-circus.co.uk
