COSHOCTON — Coshocton will get a small taste of the Cincinnati Circus Company on Saturday at the Coshocton Airport Amphitheater.
The amphitheater’s annual Family Fun Fest will feature a juggling act, kids rock show and giant-size games, such as checkers and Connect Four, for families to play. There will be a lot of audience interaction, owner Dave Willacker said.
It’s a small portion of what the business, formerly known as the Amazing Portable Circus, has to offer, Willacker said. The circus has everything from a large-scale traditional circus featuring aerialists and trapeze artists to living statues and cheese carvers for personal parties and corporate events. It has more than 100 acts.
The business started simple in 2003, when Willacker began juggling in public. He said fans asked whether he knew other performing arts such as stilt walking and fire eating. He said he learned those skills and began recruiting friends and other performers to expand his scope.
“I didn’t mean to start a circus. It just kind of happened,” Willacker said.
