SARASOTA - Circus Sarasota has promoted Jennifer Mitchell to managing director, a new position aimed at supporting the nonprofit’s growth.
She will lead the group’s day-to-day operations along with Pedro Reis and Dolly Jacobs-Reis, the founders and chief executive and associate director, respectively, of Circus Sarasota.
Mitchell joined Circus Sarasota in 2008 as marketing director, coordinating annual media events featuring aerialist Nik Wallenda, performer Bello Nock and others.
She will lead the group’s day-to-day operations along with Pedro Reis and Dolly Jacobs-Reis, the founders and chief executive and associate director, respectively, of Circus Sarasota.

She has a bachelor’s degree from the University of South Carolina and a master’s of business administration from Everest University.
Mitchell is a former executive director and producer for the Miss American Teen Pageant Program and has coordinated hundreds of national events and activities during the last 20 years.

Circus Sarasota also announced that it has chosen Sarasota-based Be Creative Studios as its marketing agency of record to assist with brand, marketing and positioning strategy.
The organization is seeking to align the Circus Sarasota and Sailor Circus brands, “to elevate the circus performing arts message and raise awareness of its core community outreach programs,” the group said.
“These are exciting times for Circus Sarasota and we look forward to unveiling a whole host of new ideas next season,” Pedro Reis said.
